What should you keep inside your safe
15th July 2021
Owning a safe for either domestic or commercial use is the most efficient way of securing the important things. By having any valuables or vital documents locked away this eliminates the possibility of loss, theft or damage to these items. In this article we will go through some of the most common things kept inside safes, both for home use and for use in businesses.
What to store in your domestic safe –
Vital documents such as passports, birth certificates, your last will and testament and any deeds or ownership papers you may own. By keeping these in a secure location, you will not only be protecting them but also keeping them somewhere easily locatable so there is no risk of not being able to find these documents when you require them.
Expensive belongings like jewellery, watches and other accessories will be a lot safer kept in a safe than in a jewellery box or drawer. Leaving these in easily accessible places will put them at risk if ever an intruder gains access to your home. Many burglars will actively search for jewellery drawers and expensive accessories as they know this is where they can make money when selling on. However, if you keep these in your home safe, this risk is fully abolished.
Cash left lying around the home, just like expensive accessories, would be an easy target for burglars for grab and get off with. Any spare cash you have in your home should be kept in a secure location so that it cannot go missing or be stolen. Even if you think you have a secure location – like in a sock drawer or under your mattress it’s very likely the burglar will know where to look to find the money.
Anything that holds sentiment to you and your family cannot be replaced. By keeping these items in a locked safe these will be protected. Regardless of the monetary value of these items these are just as vital to keep safe.
Medicines which you wish to keep out of reach from children or guests should be kept in your home safe. This way there is no risk of them falling into the wrong hands and causing illness and they are also in an easily accessible location for whenever you need them.
What to store in your commercial safe –
Documentation such as deeds to the buildings, blueprints or even important contracts with clients need to be stored in a secure location. By keeping them in a commercial safe, or even a secure filing cabinet, it ensures they are protected from loss, theft or damage and keeps them away from prying eyes.
Any cash the business has needs to be in a safe place. Leaving cash lying around will only put your business at risk of being targeted by thieves, which could then put more of your equipment and property at danger.
Spare keys are also at risk of being stolen if they’re left round the office. Of course, if the keys are needed, it is important for the staff members to keep them on their person, however, any spare keys that aren’t regularly used should be locked away. This will ensure no access is granted to anyone who it has not been permitted to.
Electronics such as iPads, tablets or company phones which are not regularly used or are left in the office overnight should be kept secure. These could contain confidential information and if an intruder were to get their hands on these, they could be granted access to a wealth of private information.
By owning either a domestic or commercial safe, this is ensuring extra security for all the important and valuable items you keep at home or at your business. Safes are the most effective way of protecting any confidential documents, expensive belongings or even items which hold a special place in your heart.
Our expert teams install the safes securely ensuring they are bolted at the base or rear which takes away the chance of the entire safe being stolen in a break in.
