What is the MLA and what does the association do?

3rd February 2021

At Associated Security, we’re proud to be a part of the MLA. For those of you who aren’t already aware of who the MLA are, it stands for the Master Locksmiths Association and they are the largest locksmiths association in the UK. All of our locksmiths and engineers are MLA approved, providing the best possible service across the UK.

MLA Approved Company - Master Locksmith Association

Who are the MLA and what do they do?

The MLA are a not-for-profit organisation that was founded in 1958 and has developed their own licensing scheme in which companies who are approved are vetted, undergo regular inspections to ensure that quality is consistently maintained and employ locksmiths who hold exam-based qualifications.

Essentially, this means that by using an MLA approved locksmith or an MLA approved company, it guarantees that the locksmith or company has the correct qualifications and skills, providing peace of mind that the required job will be completed to the highest standards.

As the association was established over 50 years ago they have cemented themselves in the industry becoming the leading trade association for locksmiths. Their high standards and promotion of valuable skillsets and ethics within the industry reflect their motto of “skill and integrity”.

The Master Locksmith Association is recognised by several national government institutions including the Home Office, police forces, RISC authority, building research establishment British Standard Institute and the Neighbourhood and Home Watch Networks.

If you’re looking for some locksmithing assistance, it’s always best to find an individual or business who are approved by the Master Locksmith Association – you run the risk of the workmanship being a bit shoddy otherwise, and then you’ll end up paying an approved locksmith to come out and fix what wasn’t properly done.

Trusted MLA approved engineers up and down the country

Associated Security are proud to be a part of this association and offer our skills to our customers and client’s across the country. We ensure that all of our engineers are MLA approved, ensuring that each job is completed to uphold the distinction of quality we strive to achieve.
